Profile

Description

Urciuolo Vini was founded in 1996, by brothers and Irpinia natives Ciro and Antonello Urciuolo. It was their father's lifelong dream for the family to own a winery, and it came to fruition in 1992 when the brothers planted just 3 hectares of Fiano in Forino. These first vines were planted to an area that was not intentionally destined for vineyards, but instead was planted to hazelnuts. The story of Ciro and Antonello's winery is one of a commitment and passion to develop their region of Puglia and re-define convention. Falanghina - the name derives from “falanga,” the poles used to support the vine's vigorous growth - is thought to be of ancient Greek origin, but it thrives in Campania. The region's soils contribute a wonderful and persistent acidity to the wines, making them perfect aperitif whites for casual, everyday enjoyment. We were lucky enough to be joined by Ciro for a tasting of this delicious wine - check out the video on our YouTube channel! Serve this Falanghina at about 6 C, and enjoy over the next two years.
