Profile

Description

Dr. Robert Weil, a well-respected member of a historic ruling family in Germany bought and started the winery back in 1867. This Trocken Riesling was regularly featured on wine lists in the high class hotels of the 1920s such as the Metropolitan and the Berlin Adlon, hotels that would be of the same class as a Ritz Carlton in today's society. With four generations of family winemakers, Dr. Robert Weil is still a family-owned operation and one of the pioneers in helping Germany's Rieslings make it onto the world stage. With some of the top vineyard sites in the Rheingau, Dr. Robert Weil Riesling has gained significance as both a vineyard heritage site and gained its VDP Grand Cru Classification in 2012. Today, the Trocken Riesling once reserved only for the wealthy is now available in Canada only through Wine Collective as one of our exclusive members only selections. The best part is these wines can age up to twenty years! Drink now or in 20 years from now at 7 ºCWhenever you choose to enjoy it, serve at a well-chilled 7 C.

Pairing

Pairs great with seafood dishes like prawn laksa, crab legs, oven-roasted trout with lemon dill sauce, bratwurst, Brussels sprouts in maple mustard glaze & spargel (white asparagus).

Aromas and Flavours

Stone

Remember playing with pebbles as a child and giving them a lick out of curiosity?

Lemon-lime

Common in cool climate white wines, this aroma can range from fresh citrus to lemon zest.

Apple

From Granny Smith to Red Delicious, apple makes for a delightfully crisp aroma.

Peach

Fuzzy peach candies, or real-life fuzzy peaches fresh from a fresh B.C fruit stand.

Grapefruit

As refreshing as aromas come, the smell of grapefruit is purely invigorating.
